At Cornell I designed my own major, and was accepted into the honors thesis program for a project titled “The Performative Construction of Truth in Marcellus Shale Gas Drilling.” Ultimately, I left the thesis behind to spend my time volunteering for and working with climate organizations, which led to jobs with 350.org and Earthjustice.
My course work included feminist gender and sexuality studies, critical race studies, environmental studies, and traditional sociology. In 2010 and 2011 I was president of the Cornell Folk Song Society, founded in the mid 1950s and whose former presidents include Peter, from Peter, Paul and Mary.

The PMP is the global standard project management certification, offered by the Project Management Institute. The certification requires at least three years of formal project management experience, 35 hours of classroom instruction, a four-hour accreditation exam, and ongoing professional development certifications.
I practice traditional, hybrid and agile PM methods. I hold an additional Project Management certification from eCornell.

The Scrum Alliance puts it best:
“Scrum is a lightweight yet incredibly powerful framework. Scrum relies on cross-functional and self-managing teams to deliver products and services in short cycles, enabling: Fast feedback, Quicker innovation, Continuous improvement, Rapid adaptation to change, Delighted customers, and Reduced time from idea to delivery.
“The term scrum comes from a 1986 Harvard Business Review article (The New New Product Development Game) in which authors Hirotaka Takeuchi and Ikujiro Nonaka made an analogy comparing high-performing, cross-functional teams to the scrummage used by rugby teams. Ken Scwaber and Jeff Sutherland first introduced scrum as a framework at the Object-Oriented Programming, Systems, Languages & Applications (OOPSLA) conference in 1995 in Austin, Texas.
“Though it has its roots in software development, today scrum is used in almost every industry so that teams can solve complex problems and deliver innovative products and services that truly delight customers.”
I am extremely passionate about applying scrum in organizational development, human services, technology transformation, and DEI settings — taking the framework beyond traditional applications in software development.
