Management Consultant | California Department of Social Services

Maxwell School Capstone Consulting Project

  • Managed agile project to produce results-based contracting and performance-based grants management products for two CDSS initiatives: Guaranteed Income Pilot (Budget: $12M) and Promise Neighborhoods (Budget: $25M).

  • Produced seven working social service products, including grantee performance budgets (Excel), status-visualization performance work plans (Excel), a KPI tracking platform (Excel), and results-based annual work plan and reporting templates.

  • Led designed a tailored agile project methodology using Scrum values, events, artifacts, and Kanban in collaboration with the CDSS client team and Maxwell consulting team.

DEI Coordinator & Administrator | Legal Assistance of Western NY

Project Management and Program Leadership

  • Initiated and facilitated a strategic organizational assessment (hybrid method) across three project teams to evaluate root causes of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) issues;

  • Coordinated stakeholder engagement with partner organizations, internal executives, contracted SMEs, project teams, and organizational committees;

  • Integrated deliverables from multiple teams into a single DEI report with 40 highly detailed and actionable organizational policy changes.

Facilitation, Presentation and Communication

  • Organized and point of contact for Undoing Racism Training facilitated by the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond for LawNY supervisors, management, and DEI committee members; workshop ran twice for 20 staff at each session

  • Designed and conducted experiential DEI sessions using anti-racist facilitation covering topics such as implicit bias, difficult conversations, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Collaboratively developed and facilitated customized, multi-day strategic planning retreats (in person and online) for the DEI committee in 2019, 2020, and 2022.

  • Developed an organizational cultural assessment workshop based on “White Supremacy Culture” by Kenneth Jones and Tema Okun to identify patterns in organizational culture and develop relational alternatives

Program: Talking Circles on Race and Racism 

  • Conducted an in-depth organizational assessment to align the program with new strategic goals set by the Executive Director and developed an Organizational Change Management (OCM) strategy to redesign the program to meet the evolving needs of BIPOC program participants.

  • Crafted tailored program materials, including extensive anti-racist curriculum to meet the needs of racially diverse clients;

  • Designed and facilitated a performance-based training program for new facilitators while rolling out robust internal communications to support the change process.

Program: The New Jim Crow Community Read 

  • Crafted and executed a racial justice program centered on the leadership of formerly incarcerated team members;

  • Successfully advocated for reallocating county jail expansion funds toward just and cost-effective diversion programs/alternatives to incarceration.

  • Coordinated recruitment, facilitation, and communication efforts for thirty stakeholder groups, spearheading a campaign that mobilized 850 individuals over 8 months. 

  • Developed a comprehensive communication and training strategy to train 20+ book-group instructors in leading monthly book-group meetings for 10-15 participants each.

  • Curriculum encompassed creation of performance-based learning materials, coordination of training communication, and continuous improvement driven by instructors and participants.
